About this event

Investing in Transformational Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): A Foundation to Support District Goals for School Climate and Academic Achievement

Educators know how important social-emotional skills are for kids to become healthy, happy adults and leaders in their communities. But in addition to meeting the needs of the whole child, prioritizing SEL also brings more immediate benefits: improvement in academic performance and school climate.

The JFCS Center for Children and Youth is partnering with the Marin County Office of Education, Social Emotional Learning Alliance for California, Beyond Differences, and Challenge Success to invite education leaders to hear from two expert panels, bringing a range of perspectives on the issue. Education leaders will learn and ask questions about the Philosophical and Practical aspects of furthering SEL in their schools.

Join us for this special virtual event that will connect the dots between the science of SEL, learning, school climate, and academic achievement, and demonstrate how investing in SEL supports district goals and accountability measures.  Education leaders and practitioners will share their SEL success stories, in conversation with experts from academia and students. You will come away with examples of how to adopt SEL best practices in your district or school, as well as the results you're likely to see.
